Bio Story

Faith was raised on the Norfolk, English coast, right by the sea. The dunes and beach were her playground, with daily walks with the family Golden Retriever dog, Velvet, and bicycle-rides with her younger sister. At night through the window from her cabin bed, and in-between moments spent in the pages of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes or ghost stories, she'd watched the bright, nocturnal ships pass to and fro on the North Sea. The first time she saw the dawn – and viewed from that eastern window meant the sun rise was even more spectacular as it rose out from the horizon of the sea, displaying a vivid array of colours – it filled her with wonderment. Not only were the animals she cared for – the family dog and cats, her own hamster – amazing but so was nature in her entirety.

Left much to her own devices, the highly sensitive child would sketch pencil drawings in notepads of winter trees laden with snow, the family car parked in the drive, and animals, domestic and wild. In the days before Microsoft's Windows, her father brought home the BBCB computer on which she played games such as Bug Blaster. When a little older, she learnt a few lines of code, producing simplistic games and alien soundscapes. Tones in such contrast to the classical piano playing she was used to. She loved computers so much she dreamed of having her own robot dog, although she wanted a real dog first (this was before the Golden Retriever).

At age 19 she got her own first dog, an LD (Little Dog), a Miniature Yorkshire Terrier, called Columbus, and today she has several dogs. Faith has found much solace and comfort with the companionship of her dogs.

Forty/fifty years ago childhood was very different: In the 1970s/1980s kids usually spent time outdoors, or were in front of the TV doing (or not!) homework, maybe playing computer games (no internet back then), or chatting on the phone with their friends. Looking back, despite the hardships of being a scapegoated child, there were also many good experiences had.

She began work at just 15 during the summer holidays that year in the family business. Doing the admin for her father, as his personal assistant. In addition to her main secretarial job, she also liked selling Avon cosmetics, and working in a bar. Just before turning 19 her family lost the factory against the backdrop of the country's recession. Never wanting to stay unemployed and after a failed first romantic relationship at 20, she tearfully left Columbus behind with her parents, to work and live abroad. Knowing instinctively that life could offer more and be better.
